Our Story

Joey Phillips, founder of Phillips Pools Plus, has deep roots in North Myrtle Beach, SC. A graduate of North Myrtle Beach High School (1991) and Coastal Carolina University, Joey spent 25 years serving as a youth pastor in Baptist and Anglican churches throughout the Southeast. Those years instilled in him a love for people, a commitment to service, and the steady work ethic that he later carried into business.

In 2018, Joey transitioned out of ministry and founded Phillips Pools Plus, blending his lifelong ties to the community with a family legacy of skilled trades. His uncle, Gerald Dew, had run Cherry Grove Services in the 1980s and 1990s, a respected commercial pool cleaning company in the area. And before that, Joey’s father owned and operated Phillips Plastering Company with his brother, David Phillips, working as stucco men and plasterers. Surrounded by examples of craftsmanship and integrity, Joey saw Phillips Pools Plus as a way to continue that tradition—serving families and businesses with quality, reliability, and care.

Beyond the business, Joey is the husband of Heather Phillips and the proud father of three boys and one girl. Whether he’s coaching, serving in the community, or leading his team at Phillips Pools Plus, Joey’s heart is to help people enjoy life to the fullest—starting with safe, clean, and inviting pools.
